The Hoffmann Tales
The Maria Biesu National Opera presents the Hoffmann Tales, a three acts ballet inspired by Jacques Offenbach’s opera
Inspired by the tales of the romantic german artist Ernst Hoffmann, this fantasy artwork tells us the failures of the poet, narrator and hero. Three dramatic passions, three unattanaible women : Olympa, a mechanic doll, Antonia, a phtistical singer and Guilietta, a greedy seductress.
Each of these love stories finds itself affected by the destructive intervention of en evil character. Between dream and reality, in a constant illusion, will Hoffmann get his confidence back ? From Munich to Venice, will he succeed in freeing himself to find his creative strentgh back ?
The ballet dancers and the choir, along with an orchestra, offer a new choreographic version, which faithfully stages the brilliant Offenbach’s work of art. Among the most iconic pieces, the famous Barcarolle takes the spectator in the universe of the poet’s magic and moving universe.
