Franceconcert is proud to present “Carmen”, performed by the prestigious Rome Opera ballet, directed by Eleonora Abbagnato, on February 21st and 22nd, 2025 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.
Inspired by Prosper Merimée’s short story, this two-act ballet set itself apart with its dazzling visual aesthetic and the addition of a life-size horse puppet, making the show a unique experience. The set and lighting enhance the dramaturgy of the dancers’ storytelling.
Powerfully performed by the corps de ballet, this adaptation explores the themes of passion, jealousy and freedom. At the core of the story is the tumultuous relationship between Carmen, a bohemian icon of flamboyant independence, and Don Jose, a candid soldier bewitched by her irresistible charm, until their devastating love inevitably reaches a tragic and poignant conclusion.
This creation combines music, dance and theatricality to offer a memorable experience, winner of the Best Choreographic production of the Year Award for EuropainDanza 2019.
